23 states have formal community solar programs. PureSky Energy currently operates in Illinois, Minnesota, Maryland, Massachusetts, and New York.

Once primarily led by three key states, New York, Minnesota, and Massachusetts, community solar is gaining traction across the U.S. with 23 states with formal community solar programs. Maine, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey are some of the more recent states that are actively expanding their community solar programs and building new ones.
